Spirit Lake is a beautiful natural lake located in Kingsbury County, South Dakota, in the United States. It's a great spot to learn about nature and geography. The lake covers about 1,260 acres (5.1 square kilometers) and is fairly shallow, reaching a maximum depth of about 10.5 feet (3.2 meters).
Spirit Lake is easy to find. It sits about seven miles north of the town of De Smet and US Route 14. It is also six miles east of Bancroft. A smaller body of water called Mud Lake is located just to the southeast.
