Spirit Riding Free is an exciting animated TV series. It was made by DreamWorks Animation Television and you can watch it on Netflix. The show is based on the popular 2002 movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. This movie was even nominated for an Oscar! The first episode of Spirit Riding Free came out on Netflix on May 5, 2017.

Story of Spirit Riding Free
The story takes place in a small frontier town called Miradero. A 12-year-old girl named Fortuna "Lucky" Esperanza Navarro Prescott moves there from the city. On her train ride to Miradero, she meets a wild kiger mustang horse named Spirit.
Spirit is caught by wranglers (people who handle horses) and brought to Miradero. They plan to "break him in," which means training him to be ridden. But Lucky feels a special connection with Spirit right away. She helps him escape from his pen.
Lucky also becomes best friends with two other girls: Prudence "Pru" Granger and Abigail Stone. Pru has a talented and proud palomino horse named Chica Linda. Abigail owns a friendly and funny pinto horse called Boomerang. The three girls call themselves the "PALs." Together with their horses, they go on many exciting adventures!
Meet the Characters
- Amber Frank as "Lucky" Prescott: Lucky is the main character. She is a very brave, kind, and strong-willed girl. She doesn't like being told what to do!
- Sydney Park as "Pru" Granger: Pru is often the smartest of the group. She seems to know a little bit about everything! She is also brave and has a good heart.
- Bailey Gambertoglio as Abigail Stone: Abigail is the sweetest and funniest of the friends. She might seem less rebellious, but she is just as smart and brave as Lucky and Pru.
- Darcy Rose Byrnes as Maricela Gutierrez: Maricela is the mayor's daughter. At first, she doesn't get along with Lucky and her friends. But later, she becomes a good friend to them.
- Nolan North as Jim Prescott: Jim is Lucky's father. Nolan North also voices James Prescott Sr., who is Jim's father.
- Kari Wahlgren as Cora Prescott: Cora is Lucky's aunt. She also voices Polly Prescott.
- Duncan Joiner as Snips: Snips is Abigail's little brother.
- Tiya Sircar as Kathryn "Kate" Flores-Prescott: Kate is Lucky's mother.

Spirit Untamed Movie
On October 7, 2019, DreamWorks Animation announced exciting news! A new movie based on the Spirit Riding Free series was being made. It was planned to be released in theaters on May 14, 2021. This film will be produced by DreamWorks Animation and released by Universal Pictures.
The movie will be directed by Elaine Bogan and Ennio Torresan. This will be their first time directing a full-length movie! The story for the film is written by Aury Wallington, who also created the TV series. Karen Foster is the producer. On November 10, 2020, the movie's title was announced as Spirit Untamed. Its release date was changed to June 4, 2021.
Spirit Trick Challenge Game
On December 4, 2019, DreamWorks Animation released a fun game for phones and tablets. It's called Spirit Trick Challenge. You can play it on Android and iOS devices.
