Spring Creek is a small river, about 6 miles (9.7 kilometers) long. It flows into the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one.

Spring Creek starts in Lower Paxton Township. It then flows through several nearby places. These include Paxtang, Oakleigh, Progress, Lawnton, and Colonial Park.

The creek flows mostly towards the west. It eventually joins the Susquehanna River in the southern part of Harrisburg. Another small stream called Slotznick Run flows into Spring Creek near the area known as Progress.

Exploring Spring Creek's Path

Spring Creek runs alongside a 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) part of the Capital Area Greenbelt. This section is called Cameron Parkway and is located in South Harrisburg. The creek meets the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg. This meeting point is very close to where another creek, Paxton Creek, also joins the Susquehanna.

A historic building called the Rutherford Springhouse was built over a part of Spring Creek in Paxtang. This happened in the 1740s. Its purpose was to help protect the water supply. Also, a place called Paxtang Park used to be located right along the banks of Spring Creek.

Streams Joining Spring Creek

Spring Creek has other smaller streams that flow into it. These are called tributaries. Here are the main ones:

  • Parkway Creek
  • Slotznick Run
