Sprinter (light rail) facts for kids
The Sprinter is a special train system in San Diego County, California, United States. It's a "light rail" train, which means it's like a tram or streetcar but often runs on its own tracks. It uses "diesel multiple units," which are trains that have their own engines and don't need a separate locomotive to pull them.
The Sprinter travels on a 22-mile (35 km) long track. This track already existed, and 15 stations were built along it. The Sprinter connects four cities: Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido.
