Discover Spruce Mountain
Spruce Mountain stands tall at 2,005 foot (611 m) (that's about 611 meters) above sea level. It's a great place to explore nature and get some exercise. The mountain is known for its beautiful forests and the exciting hike to its summit.
The Historic Fire Tower
One of the most exciting things about Spruce Mountain is the 73 foot (22 m) (about 22 meters) fire tower at its peak. This tower was built way back in 1928. Its main job was to help people spot forest fires from high above the trees.
The tower was updated in 2015 to make it safe for visitors. Today, it's one of only 23 fire towers still standing in the famous Adirondack Mountains. Climbing to the top of the tower gives you an incredible view that stretches for more than 120-mile (190 km)! You can see other mountains like the Adirondacks and the Catskills, and even as far east as Vermont.
Hiking to the Top
Getting to the top of Spruce Mountain is an adventure! There's a 1.3-mile (2.1 km) trail that leads right to the summit. The hike is a fun way to spend time outdoors and see lots of trees and maybe even some wildlife. It's a good trail for families and people who enjoy a moderate walk in nature. Remember to wear good shoes and bring some water for your hike!
