Saint Mark's Chapel is a small, historic building in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It used to be an Episcopal chapel. You can find it on the grounds of the Mordecai House. This chapel, along with the Mordecai Historic Park, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it is recognized as an important historical site. Today, the chapel is a very popular spot for weddings.

History of St. Mark's Chapel
Building and Early Location
St. Mark's Chapel was built in 1847. Skilled carpenters, who were enslaved, constructed it. The chapel was first built on a large farm in Chatham County. This farm was owned by a person named John Haughton.
Moving to New Homes
The chapel did not stay in Chatham County forever. In 1953, it was moved to Siler City. There, it was used by a different church group. Later, in 1979, the chapel moved again. It found its current home at Mordecai Historic Park in Raleigh.
Current Use of the Chapel
Today, St. Mark's Chapel is still very active. It is a popular place for many events. People often use it for weddings. It also hosts meetings, special talks, and educational lectures.
