Early Years and First Wins
St. Ouen F.C. was started in 1919. The club won its first big award in Jersey football in 1939. This award was called the Trinity Shield.
Later, in 1977, a coach named Richard Collinson came to Jersey. He helped set up Jersey's first special football school for young players at St. Ouen. This school helped players improve their skills.
Playing Against a Famous Team
On December 4, 1972, St. Ouen played a friendly match against a very famous Scottish team. This team was Celtic. The game took place at Springfield Stadium in Saint Helier.
Celtic used their best players in this match. They were getting ready for a big cup final game. Famous players like Kenny Dalglish and Pat McCluskey played for Celtic. Celtic won the game with a score of 11–1. St. Ouen's team also had some guest players. These included Southampton's Jim Steele and Mick Channon.
Promotions and Special Moments
In 2006, St. Ouen became champions of Division Two. This meant they moved up to Division One. However, they went back down to Division Two the next season. But they quickly moved back up to Division One the season after that.
In 2008, St. Ouen got permission to build a new training pitch. The local government, called the States of Jersey, approved it. They saw how much the new pitch would help the community.
In 2012, something very unusual happened. St. Ouen's goalkeeper, Paul Kemp, scored two goals in one league game. This was against Rozel Rovers. It was the first time a goalkeeper had scored twice in a match in Jersey! Also in 2012, St. Ouen won the Trinity Shield again. This was their first time winning it since 1939.
Club Teams
St. Ouen F.C. has several teams. They have three men's teams that play in the Jersey Football Combination league. This is the main football league system in Jersey.
The club also has teams for younger players. These teams range from under 12s up to under 18s. St. Ouen's youth teams have even played against teams from Guernsey. They represent Jersey in the Channel Islands Champions League.
For a while, St. Ouen also had a cricket club. This was for members to play during the football off-season. But in 1968, the cricket club became its own separate club. It still kept the St. Ouen name.
