How the Church Was Built
St Alban's Church was inspired by another church called the Barn Church in North Sheen (now part of Kew). The architects decided to use materials from an old farm. These materials came from the farmhouse, barns, and other buildings at Cheam Court Farm.
Materials from an Old Farm
Using old farm materials made the church very special. It's like recycling history! The farm buildings might even have been connected to Henry VIII of England's famous Nonsuch Palace. This means parts of the church could be very old indeed.
The Architects Behind the Design
Edward Swan, who designed the Barn Church, also helped design St Alban's. He worked with Charles J Marshall to create this unique building. They used brick and timber, giving the church a warm and traditional feel.
