St Andrew's Church in Radbourne is a very old and important church in Radbourne, Derbyshire. It's part of the Church of England and is considered a 'Grade I listed' building. This means it's one of the most special historic buildings in England!

History of the Church

This church is super old! It was first built way back in the 1200s (that's the 13th century). Over the years, new parts were added, like a porch in 1792 and a tower in 1874. The church was also repaired in 1844 to keep it in good shape.

Special Carvings and Memorials

Inside the church, you can find some amazing carved wooden bench ends. These carvings are from the 1300s and were originally from another place called Dale Abbey.

The church also has special memorials for the Pole and de la Pole families. One of these is for German Pole, who was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Derbyshire in 1656. An MP is a person elected to represent their area in the country's government. This memorial was made in 1684 and is thought to be the work of a famous carver named Grinling Gibbons.
