St Columba's Presbyterian Church is a church located in Peppermint Grove, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. It is a place of worship for people who follow the Presbyterian faith.
Church History
The area of Peppermint Grove was first settled by many people from Scotland. Many of these early settlers were Presbyterian.
The very first church building in Peppermint Grove was called the St Columba's Presbyterian Church Hall. It was built in 1896 on Venn Street. This hall was important because it was not only a church but also the only school in the neighbourhood for a while. It served as a school until the Cottesloe State School was built.
A few years later, Alexander Forrest generously donated land for a new, bigger church building. This land was located at the corner of Venn and Keane Streets. A talented architect named Louis Bowser Cumpston designed the church we see today.
Construction of the current church began on November 20, 1909. The first stone was laid by F. A. Moseley, marking the start of its building.
Worship Services
Worship services are held at the church every Sunday morning at 10 AM. The person who leads these services is the Rev. Kwangho Song.
