St Hydroc's Church in Lanhydrock, Cornwall, is a very old and important church. It's part of the Church of England and is considered a 'Grade I listed' building. This means it's a special historical site that needs to be protected.

History of St Hydroc's Church

This church is really old! It was first built way back in the 1400s. Later, in the 1600s, a man named Sir Richard Robartes, who was the 1st Baronet, made some changes to the church.

Much later, between 1886 and 1888, the church had a big makeover. Workers restored it and made the chancel (the part of the church near the altar) longer. The church was officially opened again on October 3, 1888.

Church Community and Parishes

St Hydroc's Church is part of a larger church community. It shares a parish with a few other churches nearby. A parish is like a local area that a church serves.

The churches in this joint parish are:

The Church Organ

For a while, St Hydroc's Church had a special pipe organ. This organ was built in 1894 by a famous organ maker named Henry Willis. It was first located in the great music room at Lanhydrock House, which is a large historic home nearby.

In the 1930s, the organ was moved from Lanhydrock House to St Hydroc's Church. However, it didn't stay there forever. Later, it was moved again to St Cuthbert's Church in Cubert. Today, St Hydroc's Church uses an electronic organ instead of the old pipe organ.
