History of St Mary's Church
St Mary's Church was built a very long time ago, around the 12th century. This means it was first built in the 1100s!
Changes Over Time
The pointed chancel, which is the part of the church near the altar, was added in the 13th century. It was made longer at some point after that.
In 1880, the church got a big makeover. This was a major restoration led by an architect named John Prichard. A restoration means fixing up an old building to make it look good and strong again. During this time, a window on the north side of the church was added. Many of the other windows are much older.
Also in 1880, a small tower in the middle of the church was taken down. It was replaced with a larger bell turret. A bell turret is a small tower that holds bells.

If you visit the church, you might see something interesting on the porch. The names of the churchwardens from 1790 are carved there. Churchwardens are people who help manage the church.
