A Look Back in Time
This church has a long history, going all the way back to the Middle Ages! Parts of it were built between the 11th and 13th centuries. Imagine, that's over 800 years ago!
Around 1682, the church was rebuilt by a person called Augustine Jackson, who was the Rector (a type of priest) at the time.
Later, between 1865 and 1866, the church got another big makeover. This work was led by an architect named Ewan Christian. A builder named John Wood of Derby helped with the construction.
The church officially reopened on May 9, 1866. During this restoration, new roofs were put on the nave (the main part of the church) and the chancel (the area near the altar). The walls were cleaned, removing old layers of paint.
The old pews (church benches) were replaced with new, open wooden benches. An old wooden bell turret (a small tower for bells) was also replaced with a new, more decorative one. Five beautiful stained glass windows, made by William Wailes of Newcastle, were also added.

Inside the church, you can find special memorials. These are like plaques or monuments that help us remember people who were important to the church or the local area long ago. Some of the people remembered here include:
