St Michael the Archangel's Church in Halam is a very old and important church. It's a Grade I listed building, which means it's protected because of its special history and architecture. It's part of the Church of England and is located in Halam, Nottinghamshire.
Church History
St Michael's Church in Halam was built a very long time ago, in the 12th century. This means it's a Norman church, built during the time of the Normans in England.
One of the coolest things inside is its beautiful stained glass. There's a special window from the 15th century that shows 'Adam and Eve'. You can find this window in the chancel, which is the part of the church near the altar. The church was also repaired and updated between 1884 and 1889.
The church has a lovely Norman arch that connects the main part of the church to the chancel. A famous expert named Nicholas Pevsner really admired this arch.
St Michael's Church shares its parish with St Giles' Church, Edingley. This means they work together as one church community.
The Organ
