The Church of St. Peter is a very old church located in Langford Budville, a village in Somerset, England. It was built way back in the 15th century, which means it's over 500 years old! Because it's so old and important, it's been given a special status as a Grade I listed building. This means it's protected and recognized as a building of great historical interest.
About the Church of St. Peter
The Church of St. Peter is made from red sandstone. It's a good size, able to hold about 150 people inside. This includes a part called the north aisle, which was added in 1866. This addition helped make space for more people, especially those coming from a nearby place called Binden House.
History and Changes
The church has grown and changed over many years. The tall tower was added in 1509. Soon after, another part called the south aisle was built. The church also had a big update in 1846 to make it look its best.
More additions came later. The north aisle was built in 1866, and then a vestry and organ chamber were added in 1873. The tower holds five bells that were fixed up in the 1990s. During that time, the roof and stone walls of the church were also repaired. Inside, there is a special brass plaque that serves as a War Memorial, remembering those who served.
Church Connections
For a long time, until 1863, Langford Budville was connected to the church in Milverton. It was like a smaller part of that bigger church area. Later, in 1930, another area called Runnington joined with Langford Budville's church community.
Today, the church is part of a larger group of churches in the Wellington area. This group is called a benefice, and it's part of an even bigger church region known as the Tone deanery.
