About the Church Building
This church was built in 1862. At that time, Whitton became its own separate church area, or parish. Before this, it was part of St Mary's, Twickenham.
A family called the Gostlings helped make the church possible. They owned land that used to belong to the Duke of Argyll. The Gostling family gave some of their land for the new church. They also gave land for a house for the vicar, which is the church leader. The first architect who designed the church was F H Pownall.
Special Windows and Art
The church has beautiful stained glass windows. These windows are made from many pieces of colored glass. The windows on the east side of the church were made in 1862 by a company called Clayton and Bell. The window on the west side was made later, in 1892, by Charles Eamer Kempe.
Inside the church, you can also see a very old piece of art. It is a 15th-century panel made of alabaster. Alabaster is a soft, white stone. This panel shows a picture of Christ and symbols called Arma Christi. These symbols represent things from the story of Jesus. This special panel came from Valle Crucis Abbey in Wales in 1913.
