Stefan Marius Johansen (born January 8, 1991) is a former professional footballer from Norway. He played as a central midfielder, which is a key position in the middle of the field. Stefan also played for the Norwegian national team until he stopped playing international football in 2021.
Stefan Johansen started his football journey early. He joined Bodø/Glimt when he was just 14 years old. He made his first-team debut in 2007. Later, in 2011, he moved to Strømsgodset. There, he became a very important player. His team finished second in the league in 2012 and then won the league title in 2013. For his great performance, Stefan won the Kniksen Award as the best midfielder of 2013.
In January 2014, Stefan moved to the famous Scottish club Celtic. In 2015, the fans of Celtic voted him their Player of the Year. Stefan also played for Norway's youth teams. He was part of the under-21 team that played in the 2013 European Championship. He played his first game for the senior national team in 2013.

Club Career Highlights
Stefan Johansen grew up in Vardø, a small town in northern Norway. He moved to Bodø at 14 to join Bodø/Glimt.
Starting at Bodø/Glimt
Stefan joined Bodø/Glimt's main team in 2007. He played his first game in the Norwegian Football Cup. In 2007, Bodø/Glimt was promoted to the top league, Tippeligaen. Stefan played six matches that season. He made his debut in Tippeligaen in August 2008.
By 2010, Stefan was playing regularly for Bodø/Glimt. Many clubs wanted to sign him because he was seen as a big talent. In December 2010, he signed a three-year contract with Strømsgodset. He joined them for free in January 2011.
Success with Strømsgodset
Stefan played his first game for Strømsgodset in a match against Sogndal. In his first year, he played 13 league games and scored one goal. In 2012, he scored two goals from amazing free kicks.
Stefan became a regular starter for Strømsgodset. In August 2012, he won the Statoil Talent Prize for his great play. In 2013, Stefan helped Strømsgodset win their first league title in 43 years! He was also named the Midfielder of the Year in Norway.
Moving to Celtic
On January 15, 2014, Stefan moved to the Scottish club Celtic. He signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. He was given the number 25 shirt. Stefan played his first game for Celtic in a 4–0 win against Hibernian. He scored his first goal for Celtic in March 2014 with a header in a 3–0 win against St Mirren.
Time at Fulham
Stefan signed a three-year deal with Fulham on August 26, 2016. He scored his first goal for Fulham in October 2016 in a 2–2 draw against Norwich City.
In January 2019, Stefan joined West Brom on loan until the end of the season.
Playing for Queens Park Rangers
On January 26, 2021, Stefan joined Queens Park Rangers (QPR) on loan. He scored his first goal for QPR in February 2021 in a 2-1 win against Bournemouth.
After a successful loan, Stefan returned to QPR permanently on July 24, 2021. He signed a three-year deal. On June 19, 2023, Stefan and QPR agreed to end his contract early.
International Career
Stefan Johansen first played for Norway's under-15 team in August 2006. He then played for Norway at every youth level, including the under-23 team. He was a key player for the under-21 team that qualified for the 2013 European Championship. In that tournament, Norway beat England before losing to Spain in the semi-finals.
Stefan played 55 games for the senior Norwegian national team. He scored his first international goal on his debut against Sweden in Stockholm on August 14, 2013.
On March 22, 2017, Stefan was chosen as the new captain of the Norwegian national team. He announced his retirement from international football on March 10, 2021.
