Stephanie Sigman was born in Ciudad Obregón, a city in Sonora, Mexico. Her birthday is February 28, 1987. Her mother is Mexican, and her father, Lee Sigman, is American. Her father was a scout for the New York Yankees baseball team and came from Kansas. Because her father is American, Stephanie is also a U.S. citizen. She has a brother named Kenneth Ray Sigman, who is a baseball player.

Breakthrough Role in Miss Bala
In 2011, Stephanie got a big role as Laura Guerrero in the Mexican crime drama film Miss Bala. This movie was chosen to represent Mexico at the 84th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Even though it didn't make the final list, Stephanie's performance was highly praised. She was even nominated for an award by the Dublin Film Critics' Circle in 2011.

The next year, in 2012, Stephanie played Catalina Aguado in a Canadian documentary film called Flight of the Butterflies. In 2013, she also appeared in a Norwegian thriller movie, Pioneer.
