Stephen F. Austin High School is a public high school in Fort Bend County, Texas. It is named after Stephen F. Austin, who helped lead American settlement in Texas. He is often called "The Father of Texas." The school is located just a few miles from where Austin's original colony was.

This school serves students in grades 9 through 12. It is part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. While it has a Sugar Land, Texas address, the school building is actually outside the city limits. Students from areas like Sugar Land, Windsor Estates, and parts of New Territory attend Austin High School.

School History and Growth

Austin High School opened its doors in 1995. It was built to help reduce the number of students at other crowded schools. These included Kempner High School and Clements High School. Austin was the sixth big high school in the Fort Bend Independent School District.

Over the years, school boundaries sometimes changed. When Travis High School opened, some students who would have gone to Austin started going to Travis. In return, Austin High School took in some students from Kempner High School.
