Stephen F. Austin High School is a public high school in Fort Bend County, Texas. It is named after Stephen F. Austin, who helped lead American settlement in Texas. He is often called "The Father of Texas." The school is located just a few miles from where Austin's original colony was.
This school serves students in grades 9 through 12. It is part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. While it has a Sugar Land, Texas address, the school building is actually outside the city limits. Students from areas like Sugar Land, Windsor Estates, and parts of New Territory attend Austin High School.

School History and Growth
Austin High School opened its doors in 1995. It was built to help reduce the number of students at other crowded schools. These included Kempner High School and Clements High School. Austin was the sixth big high school in the Fort Bend Independent School District.
Over the years, school boundaries sometimes changed. When Travis High School opened, some students who would have gone to Austin started going to Travis. In return, Austin High School took in some students from Kempner High School.
School Campus
Austin High School is located off FM 1464. It is near the Summerfield neighborhood and the Safari Texas Ranch. Oyster Creek Elementary School and Macario Garcia Middle School are also nearby. Students from these schools often go on to attend Austin High School.
Communities Served by Austin High
Austin High School serves several communities in Fort Bend County. These include Old Orchard, Orchard Lake Estates, and Summerfield. Other areas like Pheasant Creek and Park Pointe also send students here. The eastern part of New Territory, which is in the City of Sugar Land, is also part of Austin High's zone.

Music Programs
The SFA Bulldog Band is a large group with over 150 student musicians. It includes a Marching Band, Concert Band, and Full Orchestra. The music program offers many activities. Students can take part in state and national competitions. They also participate in individual and group music events.
The school's orchestra has even performed at the Midwest Clinic. This is a very well-known music conference held every year.
