Stephen Christopher Howard (born July 15, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. He was born and grew up in Dallas, Texas. Stephen Howard played basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and also for many teams overseas.

Stephen Howard's College Journey
Stephen Howard played college basketball at DePaul University from 1988 to 1992. He was a very good student and athlete. He earned the title of Academic All-American during his junior and senior years. This means he was excellent in both sports and his studies.
Leading the Team
In his senior year, Stephen was a team captain. He showed great leadership on the court. By the end of his college career, he was one of DePaul's top players. He ranked fifth in the school's history for both scoring points and grabbing rebounds. He also holds the school record for making the most free throws in his career.
Playing in the NBA
After college, Stephen Howard was not chosen in the 1992 NBA draft. However, the Utah Jazz invited him to try out for their team. He worked hard and earned a spot on their roster. He played as a power forward for the Jazz in the 1992-93 NBA season.
More NBA Teams
Stephen also played for the Jazz again in 1995 and 1998. He joined the San Antonio Spurs for the 1996–97 NBA season. Later, he played for the Seattle SuperSonics during the 1997–98 NBA season.
Playing Basketball Around the World
After his time in the NBA, Stephen Howard continued his professional basketball career overseas. He played for ten more years in many different countries. He competed in 12 different countries around the world. He finally finished his professional playing career in 2008.
Stephen Howard and NBA Jam
During his time with the Utah Jazz, Stephen Howard was contacted by Midway Games. This company created the popular video game NBA Jam. Stephen was one of the players who modeled for the game. This means his movements and appearance helped create the characters in the game. He also appears as a secret player in NBA Jam. The regular Jazz players in the game were Karl Malone and John Stockton.
Off the Court: A Juice Store
During the 1998–99 NBA lockout, when NBA games were paused, Stephen Howard started a business. He opened a juice store called "Acappella" in Northern Dallas with some friends. At the store, customers could get a discount on weekends. If they sang 10 seconds of their favorite song aloud, they would get 25% off their bill!
