Stephen Christopher Howard, born on July 15, 1970, is an American who used to play professional basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons from 1988 to 1992. He was also a great student, earning the title of Academic All-American in his third and fourth years of college.

Stephen was a team captain in his final year at DePaul. He finished his college career as one of the top five players in school history for scoring and rebounding. He also holds the school record for making the most free throws in his career. Even though he was not chosen in the 1992 NBA draft, he got a chance to try out for the Utah Jazz. He made the team and played for the Jazz in the 1992–1993, 1995, and 1998 seasons. He also played for the San Antonio Spurs in 1996–1997 and the Seattle SuperSonics in 1997–1998. After his time in the NBA, he played basketball professionally in 12 different countries for ten more years, ending his career in 2008.

Playing for the Utah Jazz

Stephen Howard first joined the Utah Jazz in 1992. He played for them during the 1992–1993 season. He later returned to the Jazz for parts of the 1995 and 1998 seasons.

Besides the Jazz, Stephen also played for the San Antonio Spurs during the 1996–1997 season. The next year, he played for the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1997–1998 season.

Becoming a Video Game Star

While playing for the Utah Jazz, Stephen Howard was asked by Midway Games to be one of the players featured in the popular video game NBA Jam. He even appears as a secret player in the game, alongside the regular Jazz players like Karl Malone and John Stockton.

Opening a Juice Store

During a time when NBA players were not playing due to a lockout in 1998–1999, Stephen Howard opened a juice store in Northern Dallas. It was called "Acappella." The store had a fun rule: on weekends, customers could get 25% off their bill if they sang 10 seconds of their favorite song out loud at the counter!
