Stephen's Baseball Journey

Stephen Larkin went to the University of Texas at Austin. There, he played college baseball for the Texas Longhorns team. He even played in the College World Series in both 1992 and 1993.

Starting in the Minors

In 1994, the Texas Rangers team chose Stephen in the 10th round of the baseball draft. This meant he could start playing professional baseball. He began his minor league career with the Low-A Hudson Valley Renegades.

The next year, in 1995, he played for the Single-A Charleston RiverDogs. He also played a few games for the Winston-Salem Warthogs that same year.

His Big League Game

In 1998, Stephen was playing for the Chattanooga Lookouts in the minor leagues. Then, he got called up to play for the Cincinnati Reds in Major League Baseball! This was a very special game.

Stephen Larkin played first base. His older brother, Barry Larkin, played shortstop. Also, two other brothers, Bret Boone and Aaron Boone, played second base and third base. This was the only time in baseball history that two sets of brothers played on the field at the same time!

Stephen got a hit in his only MLB game. It was a single hit that went between the first and second basemen of the Pittsburgh Pirates. This happened in the sixth inning of a home game. The Reds won that game 4 to 1.

After his MLB game, Stephen played for the Lookouts again in 1999 and 2000. He finished his baseball career playing in independent professional leagues from 2001 to 2005.
