Early Life and Education
Steve Bisciotti was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of three children. In 1961, his family moved to Severna Park, Maryland. This was a suburb near Baltimore. His father worked in construction sales.
When Steve was a child, he often went to sports games with his family. They watched the Baltimore Orioles baseball team and the Colts football team. When he was eight years old, his father passed away. After this, his grandfather helped support the family.
Steve went to Severn School for two years. Then he moved to Severna Park High School. In his last year of high school, he played on the football team. He has said he wasn't a great athlete in high school. But he loved playing football, baseball, and basketball when he was growing up.
In 1982, Steve graduated from Salisbury State University in Maryland. He earned a degree in liberal arts.
Starting a Business: Aerotek
Just one year after college, in 1983, Steve started a company. He was 23 years old. He teamed up with his cousin, Jim Davis. They named their company Aerotek. It was a staffing company. This means it helped connect people looking for jobs with companies that needed workers.
They started Aerotek in a basement office. They used old, secondhand equipment. But their hard work paid off! In their very first year, they made $1.5 million in sales. Aerotek grew into a much larger company called the Allegis Group. Today, Allegis Group is one of the biggest private staffing companies in the world.
