Steven Bernard Sheppard, born on March 21, 1954, is a former American basketball player. He grew up in New York City and was known by his nickname, "Bear." Standing at 6 feet 6 inches tall, he played as a forward.

Sheppard played college basketball at the University of Maryland. He was also a member of the United States national basketball team. This team won a gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
