He played as a defensive end, a position on the defensive line that tries to stop the opposing team's offense. Steve started his professional career in 2006 with the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played for other teams like the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and the BC Lions in Canada.

Early Life and High School Sports
Steve Williams grew up in Bolingbrook, Illinois. He went to Bolingbrook High School where he was a talented athlete. In football, he was recognized as one of the best players in the state. He was also a champion in wrestling, showing his strength and skill in another sport.
College Football Journey
After high school, Steve Williams first attended Indiana University. In his first year, 2000, he played in 10 games and made 10 tackles. The next year, 2001, he played in 11 games and had 17 tackles, along with one sack.
In 2002, he moved to Northern Illinois University but did not play football that year. He returned to the field in 2004 at Northwest Missouri State University. There, he became a first-team All-MIAA player, recording 52 tackles. In 2005, he played in five games and made 31 tackles.
Professional Football Career
Steve Williams had an interesting journey in professional football, playing for several teams in both the NFL and CFL.
Starting with the Kansas City Chiefs
Even though Steve was not chosen in the 2006 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs signed him on May 17, 2006. He was released by the team before the season started but quickly rejoined their practice squad. A practice squad is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster.
He was moved to the Chiefs' main roster on September 28, 2006, but was released again in November. He then returned to the practice squad and later to the main roster for the rest of the 2006 season. That year, he played in 11 games and made four tackles. The Chiefs released him in February 2007.
Time with the Carolina Panthers
On March 16, 2007, Steve Williams signed with the Carolina Panthers. However, he was placed on the team's injured reserve list in September and then released a few days later. He signed with the Panthers again in April 2008 but was released before the season began in August.
Playing for the New England Patriots
After not playing in the 2008 season, Steve signed with the New England Patriots on May 4, 2009. He was waived, meaning released, by the team in September 2009.
Moving to the BC Lions in Canada
Steve then decided to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He signed with the BC Lions on September 22, 2009. He played for parts of two seasons with the Lions before being released on January 28, 2011.
Returning to New England
The New England Patriots signed Steve Williams again on July 29, 2011. However, he was waived by the team a couple of weeks later, on August 13.
