Steven Thomas Finn (born 4 April 1989) is a former English cricket player. He was a right-arm fast bowler who also batted right-handed. When he was 16, he became the youngest player to debut in first-class cricket for Middlesex County Cricket Club. He played his first Test match for England in 2010 against Bangladesh. After retiring from playing, he became a cricket commentator for Test Match Special in 2019.

Playing for Clubs

Middlesex and Sussex

The Hundred and Retirement

In 2021, Finn played for Manchester Originals in the first season of The Hundred competition.

Bowling Style and "Finn's Law"

Steven Finn was known for his fast bowling, often reaching speeds over 145 km/h (90 mph). He was tall and had a smooth bowling action.

Before 2013, Finn had a unique habit: he would sometimes knock the non-striker's stumps with his knee during his bowling action. This caused some problems, as umpires would call a "dead ball" if it happened.

To fix this, Finn changed his run-up. Also, the International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced a new rule in 2013. This rule states that if a bowler breaks the non-striker's wicket during their delivery, it is called a "no-ball" instead of a "dead ball." This rule is now commonly known as "Finn's Law."
