Steven Kellogg, born on October 6, 1941, in Norwalk, Connecticut, is a famous American author and illustrator. He has created over 90 amazing children's books that kids all over the world love.

In 2011, Steven Kellogg received a special honorary degree from the University of Findlay in Ohio. This was to celebrate his wonderful work. He also donated all his original drawings and illustrations to the Mazza Museum of International Art from Picture Books at the university. This huge gift included more than 2,700 pieces of art and was helped by a generous gift from his friend, actor Anthony Edwards.

Early Life and Education

Steven Kellogg was born in Norwalk, Connecticut. His parents were Robert E. and Hilma Marie Kellogg. From a young age, he loved to write and draw. This passion led him to study at the Rhode Island School of Design, a very well-known art school. While he was a student there, he even won a scholarship to study in Italy for a year, which was a fantastic experience for him.

Family and Home

In 1967, Steven Kellogg married Helen Hill. Soon after, he started illustrating books for other authors. It wasn't long before he began writing and illustrating his own stories. Today, he lives in Essex, New York, continuing his creative work.

Helping Kids and Books

Steven Kellogg is also a part of the Board of Directors for the National Children's Book and Literacy Alliance. This is a group that works to support reading, books, and libraries for children across the country. He serves as a vice-president, helping to make sure more kids have access to great stories.

Awards and Recognition

Steven Kellogg has won many awards for his contributions to children's literature. One of the most important is the Regina Medal, which honors a lifetime of work in children's books.
