Steven Aaron Jordan (born November 2, 1973), known as Stevie J, is an American DJ, music producer, and television star. He was part of the famous Bad Boy Records production team called "the Hitmen." Stevie J won a Grammy Award for his work on Puff Daddy's first album, No Way Out, which came out in 1997. In the late 1990s, Stevie J produced music for many popular artists. These included Mariah Carey, The Notorious B.I.G., 112, Faith Evans, Jay-Z, and Eve.

Early Life and Beginnings
Growing Up
Steven Aaron Jordan was born on November 2, 1973, in Utica, New York. He grew up in Buffalo, New York, and Rochester, New York. His father raised him after his mother left the family.
Starting in Music
Before joining Bad Boy Records, Stevie J often played the bass guitar for the music group Jodeci during their live shows. He also appeared on their 1995 album, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel. Stevie J was also a member of Swing Mob. This was a record label and music group based in Rochester, New York, started by DeVante Swing from Jodeci.
Music Career Highlights
Joining Bad Boy Records
Stevie J became well-known as a member of Bad Boy Records' "Hitmen" team of producers and writers in the 1990s. He worked closely with the label's owner, Sean "Puffy" Combs. Stevie J produced many songs for Bad Boy artists. For example, he worked on the first album for the R&B group 112. He produced their main song "Only You", which featured The Notorious B.I.G..
Producing for Top Artists
Stevie J produced several songs on The Notorious B.I.G.'s album Life After Death. These songs included "Mo Money Mo Problems" and "Notorious Thugs." Stevie J later won a Grammy Award for his production work on Combs' album No Way Out. This included the tribute song to The Notorious B.I.G., "I'll Be Missing You".
He also produced music for other artists outside of Bad Boy. He worked with Mariah Carey and was nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on her 1997 album Butterfly. From that album, he produced songs like "Honey" and "Breakdown". In the summer of 1997, three songs produced by Stevie J – "I'll Be Missing You", "Mo Money Mo Problems", and "Honey" – all reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Stevie J also produced for artists such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Brian McKnight, Ma$e, Lil' Kim, and Eve. He helped write the popular song "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" for Eve in 2001.

Reality TV Star
In 2012, Stevie J started appearing on the VH1 reality TV show, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. The show followed his life and relationships, including those with Mimi Faust and Joseline Hernandez. Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez became a well-known couple in the hip-hop world. They appeared in music videos for artists like Faith Evans and Trey Songz.
Other TV Projects
In 2016, Stevie J announced he would produce and star in a movie called "That Time of the Month." He also starred in other reality shows like Stevie J & Joseline: Go Hollywood and Leave It to Stevie. He has continued to appear on television, including Growing Up Hip Hop and Black Ink Crew: Compton.
