Stick Man is a much-loved children's book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. It tells the story of a wooden stick who acts like a person, living happily with his family in their "family tree." One day, he gets separated from his home and goes on a big adventure, much like a long journey in a famous story. He tries hard to find his way back. In the end, he meets Father Christmas, who helps him reunite with his family. The story takes place in England.
This popular book has sold over 2 million copies around the world. It has also been turned into a short animated film and a very successful play for the stage.

In 2015, the book was made into a short animated film. It was directed by Jeroen Jaspaert and Daniel Snaddon. Famous actors lent their voices to the characters, including Martin Freeman, Sally Hawkins, Jennifer Saunders, Hugh Bonneville, and Rob Brydon. The film was made by Magic Light Pictures, the same team that created other popular animated movies like The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom.
The Stick Man film first showed on BBC 1 on Christmas Day, December 25, 2015. Lots of people watched it! About 9.27 million viewers tuned in, making it one of the most-watched TV shows in the United Kingdom that day.
