Stillwater Canyon is a long, winding canyon in southeastern Utah, United States. It follows the path of the Green River. This amazing natural area is found inside Canyonlands National Park. The canyon sits right on the edge between Wayne and San Juan counties.
Exploring Stillwater Canyon's Path
Stillwater Canyon starts in the middle of Canyonlands National Park. Its beginning point is a spot called Bonita Bend. From there, the canyon follows the Green River as it twists and turns. These twists are called "meanders." The canyon runs mostly south.
Where the Canyon Meets the River
As the canyon continues, it stays just west of a large cliff area known as the White Rim. Stillwater Canyon ends where the Green River meets another big river. This meeting point is called a "confluence." The Green River joins the Colorado River in the southeastern part of the National Park. This is where Stillwater Canyon also comes to an end.
