Gregory Stone Garrett (born November 22, 1995) is an American professional baseball player. He is an outfielder for the Kiwoom Heroes team in the KBO League. Before joining the Kiwoom Heroes, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was part of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Washington Nationals teams.

Stone Garrett's Baseball Journey

Starting with the Miami Marlins

Stone Garrett began his professional baseball career after being chosen by the Miami Marlins. This happened in the eighth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He was still in high school at George Ranch High School in Richmond, Texas at the time. Instead of going to college to play baseball, he decided to sign with the Marlins.

He first played for the Gulf Coast Marlins. In 2015, playing for the Batavia Muckdogs, Stone was named the Marlins Minor League Player of the Year. He had a great season, hitting for a .297 average. He also hit 11 home runs and brought in 46 runs.

In 2016, Stone played for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He played 52 games, hitting six home runs. During this time, he had a small accident with his roommate. He got a cut on his hand that needed stitches, which kept him from playing for a bit. In 2017, he moved to the Jupiter Hammerheads. He played 94 games there, hitting four home runs.

Stone returned to Jupiter in 2018, playing 64 games. He hit 5 home runs and stole 14 bases. In 2019, he played 119 games for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He hit 14 home runs and stole 15 bases that year. He did not play in 2020 because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Stone became a free agent in November 2020.

Joining the Arizona Diamondbacks

After his time with the Marlins, Stone Garrett thought about leaving baseball. He even started a job in real estate. But in 2021, a former Marlins scout helped him get another chance. Stone tried out for the Arizona Diamondbacks and signed a contract with them in March 2021.

He spent most of 2021 with the Amarillo Sod Poodles. He also played two games for the Reno Aces. In 103 games for Amarillo, he hit 25 home runs and had 81 runs batted in. He also stole 17 bases. In 2022, he started the season with the Reno Aces. He played 103 games, hitting a career-high 28 home runs and 95 runs batted in. He also stole 15 bases.

On August 17, 2022, the Diamondbacks brought Stone up to the major leagues for the first time. In his very first game against the San Francisco Giants, he got two hits. On August 28, he hit his first major league home run. He played in 27 games for Arizona, hitting 4 home runs and 10 runs batted in. In November 2022, he became a free agent again.

Playing for the Washington Nationals

On November 29, 2022, Stone Garrett signed a contract with the Washington Nationals. He started the 2023 season with the Rochester Red Wings, a minor league team. But he was called up to the Nationals on April 2, 2023.

In an August 23 game against the New York Yankees, Stone got injured. He landed awkwardly against the outfield wall while trying to catch a ball. The next day, doctors found he had a broken bone in his left leg. This injury ended his season. In 89 games for Washington, Stone hit 9 home runs and had 40 runs batted in.

Stone played his first game for the Nationals since his injury on September 27, 2024. In his very first turn at bat, he hit a two-run home run! He also got a single, a double, and a walk in that game. He helped the Nationals win 9–1.

On February 27, 2025, the Nationals decided to make a change with Stone. He then went back to play for the Triple-A Rochester team. In 15 games for Rochester, he had 2 runs batted in. On April 29, 2025, Stone was released by the Nationals.

Moving to the Kiwoom Heroes

On June 5, 2025, Stone Garrett signed with the Kiwoom Heroes. This team plays in the KBO League in South Korea.
