Stor Island is a quiet, uninhabited island located in Nunavut, Canada. It's part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region in the Canadian Arctic. This island sits in a watery area called Eureka Sound, which separates two much larger islands: Axel Heiberg Island and Ellesmere Island.
Stor Island is surrounded by other interesting water features. To its southwest, you'll find the Fulmar Channel, and to its northeast is Bay Fiord. Stor Island is also a member of several important island groups, including the Sverdrup Islands, the Queen Elizabeth Islands, and the larger Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
Island Features
Stor Island is about 32 kilometers (20 miles) long and 14 kilometers (9 miles) wide. Even though it's not huge, it has two peaks that rise to about 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level. Imagine standing on one of those peaks and looking out over the vast Arctic landscape!
