The streak-backed oriole (Icterus pustulatus) is a colorful, medium-sized bird. It belongs to the icterid family, which also includes many blackbirds, meadowlarks, and other New World orioles. This bird is known for its bright feathers and lovely songs.
It naturally lives in Central America and Mexico. Sometimes, it flies north and visits the Southwestern United States.
Where They Live and What They Like
Streak-backed orioles are found in several countries. These include Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico. They are also seen sometimes in the Southwestern United States.
These birds like to live in different kinds of places. Their favorite homes are woodlands, savannas (grassy plains with scattered trees), and shrublands (areas with many bushes). They especially like open, dry woodlands that have lots of mimosa trees.
