Strömsund (pronounced like "strom-SOOND") is a small town in Sweden. It is located in Jämtland County. In 2010, about 3,589 people lived there. Strömsund is the main town of Strömsund Municipality.

History of Strömsund
Strömsund has many interesting old buildings. The local church, called Ströms kyrka, opened in 1847. It is a beautiful and historic place.
Important Buildings
The Grand Hotel was built in 1909. It is one of the town's older hotels. The Court House, or Tingshuset, opened in 1911. A famous architect named Frans Bertil Wallberg designed it.
The Strömsund railway station was built in 1913. It connects the town to the larger railway network. The Strömsund Bridge (Strömsundsbron) opened in 1956. This special bridge carries the E45 road over the Ströms vattudal river. The Municipal Building, Strömsunds kommunalhus, was designed in 1958.
Strömsund in Movies
Strömsund is famous for being shown in a Swedish movie. The 1974 film Dunderklumpen! featured the town. Per Åhlin directed this movie.
