Stuarts Creek is a very remote place in South Australia. It is located in the state's Far North region. The area was officially named Stuarts Creek on April 26, 2013. It got its name from the nearby Stuart Creek Station, which has been known by that name for a long time.

Stuarts Creek includes a former small town called Coward Springs. You can also find the Wabma Kadarbu Mound Springs Conservation Park in the northwest part of the area. This park protects special natural springs.

History and the Old Railway

A historic railway line, often called the "Old Ghan," used to run through Stuarts Creek. This railway was important for connecting central Australia. Along this line, there were old stations or sidings (places where trains could stop or switch tracks). These included Coward Springs, Margaret, and Stuart Creek. The Stuart Creek siding was later renamed Curdimurka.

Today, you can still see parts of this old railway at Coward Springs and Curdimurka. These sites are so important that they are listed on the South Australian Heritage Register. This means they are protected because of their historical value.

Who Lives There?

According to the 2016 Australian census, which counted people in August 2016, no one lives within the official boundaries of Stuarts Creek. It is a completely uninhabited area.
