Lake Eyre is a special area in South Australia. It's not just the famous lake, but also the land around it. This area is about 718 kilometers (446 miles) north of Adelaide, the capital city. It's also 134 kilometers (83 miles) north of a town called Marree.
What is the Lake Eyre Locality?
The area known as Lake Eyre was officially created on April 26, 2013. It got its name from the well-known Lake Eyre itself. The name also comes from the former Lake Eyre National Park.
Where is this Area?
The Lake Eyre locality covers the entire area of the big lake. This includes any islands found within the lake. It also includes the Hunt Peninsula, which is on the southern coast of the northern part of the lake. Some land on the eastern side of the lake is also part of this locality.
