Sulejman Tihić (born 26 November 1951 – died 25 September 2014) was an important Bosnian politician. He served as the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2002 to 2006. This Presidency is a special group of three leaders who run the country.
Tihić was also a leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), a major political party. After his time in the Presidency, he became a member of the national House of Peoples. He held this position from 2007 until he passed away in 2014.
Tihić was born in Bosanski Šamac. He studied law at the University of Sarajevo and became a judge and lawyer. During the Bosnian War, he was captured and held in camps. After the war, he became a key figure in Bosnian politics. He worked hard to help rebuild his country.

Early Life and Education
Sulejman Tihić was born in Bosanski Šamac, a town in northern Bosnia. He went to the University of Sarajevo and finished law school in 1975.
After his studies, Tihić went back to his hometown. There, he worked as a judge, a prosecutor (a lawyer who works for the government), and a lawyer for private citizens.
Experiences During the Bosnian War
When the Bosnian War began in April 1992, Tihić was captured. He was held in several camps in Bosnia. These camps were in Bosanski Šamac, Brčko, and Bijeljina.
Later, he was taken to a prison in Belgrade, Serbia. He was held there for some time before being released.
Political Career
Sulejman Tihić was one of the people who helped start the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) in 1990. This party became very important in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 2001, Tihić was chosen to become the president of the SDA party. He took over from Alija Izetbegović, who was the first president.
In the 2002 national election, Tihić was elected to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He served as the Bosniak member of this three-person leadership group until 2006. He tried to get re-elected in 2006 but did not win.
After his time in the Presidency, Tihić continued to be active in politics. From 2007 until his death in 2014, he was a member of the House of Peoples. This is part of the country's parliament. He also served as the Chairman of the House of Peoples several times.
The Prud Agreement
Sulejman Tihić worked with other important political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These leaders included Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović. Together, they created something called the Prud Agreement in 2008.
This agreement was a plan to help improve how Bosnia and Herzegovina was run. It talked about things like how the government should own property and how to count the population. It also discussed making changes to the country's laws and government structure.
The goal of the Prud Agreement was to help Bosnia and Herzegovina meet the requirements to join the European Union. The leaders met several times to discuss these plans.
Illness and Passing
Sulejman Tihić faced health challenges for several years. In 2008, he had surgery in Slovenia to remove a tumor.
In September 2013, it was announced that Tihić had been diagnosed with cancer. He had surgery in Germany in October 2013, and doctors were happy with how he was recovering.
However, his health worsened. On 22 August 2014, he was admitted to a hospital in Sarajevo. Sulejman Tihić passed away there on 25 September 2014, at the age of 62. He was buried two days later in his hometown of Bosanski Šamac.
