Early Life and Education
Suma was born in Palakkad, Kerala, India. Her family belongs to the Malayali Nair community. She is the only child of her parents, Pranavi Narayanan Kutty Nair and Pallassana Paachuveettil Vimala.
When Suma was six months old, her family moved. They went to Secunderabad, which is now in Telangana. This move happened because her father worked for the Indian Railways.
Suma grew up in the Lalaguda and Mettuguda areas of Secunderabad. She went to St. Ann’s High School. Later, she studied at Railway Degree College in Lalaguda.
Suma's Career Journey
Suma started her career as a presenter when she was just 16 years old. She has hosted many events for Telugu films. These include movie audio launches and film awards. Even though she is from Kerala, she speaks Telugu very well.
She began acting in TV shows and telefilms in 1995. She became more famous when satellite TV channels became popular. Some of her major TV dramas were Swayamvaram, Anveshitha, Geethanjali, and Ravoyi Chandamama. Suma was not very interested in working in movies at that time.
Hosting Star Mahila and Other Shows
Suma's most well-known show is Star Mahila on ETV. This show was very popular with female audiences. She set a record with this show. It became one of the longest-running women's game shows in India.
Suma also started her own production company. It is called K. Suma Rajeev Creations. She launched it on December 26, 2012. Her company produced a show called Lakku Kikku for Zee Telugu. She also worked on a show called Genes on ETV. Another show she hosted was Kevvu Keka on MAA TV. She hosted it with Mano, and her company produced it.
Suma is known for her quick and funny comments during her shows. She even sang a song called "Suya Suya" for the 2017 Telugu movie Winner.
Personal Life
Suma married Tollywood actor Rajeev Kanakala. They got married on February 10, 1999, in Hyderabad. They have two children together. Their children are named Roshan Karthik Kanakala and Manaswini Kanakala.
Besides her first language, Malayalam, Suma speaks many other languages. She is fluent in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and English.
