Raljon: The Story Behind the Stadium Name

Raljon was the original name for the area where FedExField is located. FedExField is the home stadium for the Washington Commanders football team. The team's former owner, Jack Kent Cooke, came up with the name "Raljon." He combined the names of his two sons, Ralph and John.
The name "Raljon" started being used in 1997. However, not many people outside of the football team and its partners used this name. Even the U.S. Postal Service officially recognized it for the stadium's specific ZIP+4 Code. But after Daniel Snyder bought the team, the name "Raljon" was slowly phased out.
