Sun City is a small place in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government.
You can find Sun City about 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of a town called Ruskin. It is located right along U.S. Route 41, which is a major road. Sun City even has its own post office with the ZIP code 33586.
A City of Movies?
Sun City was first built in 1925. When it was new, people tried to make it famous as "Florida's Moving Picture City." This was a really exciting idea!
The people who planned Sun City even named some of its streets after famous movie actors. Can you imagine living on a street named after Charlie Chaplin or Betty Blythe? There was also a big movie studio built there. It cost a lot of money, about $300,000 back then!
However, the dream of a movie city didn't last. There was a big economic problem called the "Florida land boom of the 1920s." This was when too many houses and buildings were built, and then not enough people bought them. Because of this, the movie studio was torn down in 1932.
