Sun City Center is a special community in southern Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It's called a CDP, which means it's an area that looks like a town but isn't officially a city. Sun City Center is located south of Tampa and north of Sarasota, right by I-75.

In 2020, about 30,952 people lived there. The main mail code for the area is 33573.

What is Sun City Center?

Sun City Center is a unique place because it's mostly for adults aged 55 and older. This is called an age-restricted community. You'll find different types of homes here, like houses, duplexes (two homes joined together), townhouses, and apartment buildings.

The community has its own hospital and several places for older people to get care. A cool thing about Sun City Center is that it's legal to drive golf carts on the wide streets during the day! Many shops even have special parking spots just for golf carts.

There are about seven golf courses, which are great for playing golf. You can also find many places for hobbies, like woodworking, photography, and art. The main clubhouse has an outdoor pool and two indoor pools. There are clubs for almost any interest you can think of, from ham radio to dancing!

Where is Sun City Center Located?

Sun City Center is in the southern part of Hillsborough County. It's at a specific spot on the map: 27.713353 degrees North and 82.359659 degrees West.

It shares borders with other communities. To the northwest is Apollo Beach. To the northeast, you'll find Balm. Wimauma is to the east, and Ruskin is to the west.

Interstate 75 runs along the northwest side of Sun City Center. You can get into the community from Exit 240, which is Sun City Center Boulevard (State Road 674). U.S. Route 301 forms the eastern border. The Little Manatee River marks the southern edge of the area.

Tampa is about 24 miles (39 km) north of Sun City Center. Bradenton is about 21 miles (34 km) southwest if you take I-75. It's about 25 miles (40 km) if you take US-301.

The United States Census Bureau says that Sun City Center covers a total area of 16.6 square miles (43.0 square kilometers). Most of this area, 15.8 square miles (40.8 square kilometers), is land. The rest, 0.85 square miles (2.2 square kilometers), is water.
