Sun Lakes is found in the southeastern part of Maricopa County. It shares borders with the city of Chandler to the north and east. To the south, it borders an area called Goodyear Village in Pinal County.
Sun Lakes is about 2.5 miles (4 km) east of a major highway called Interstate 10. It's also about 25 miles (40 km) southwest of downtown Phoenix, a much larger city.
