Sunburst's Story
Sunburst started as a place where people farmed. In the 1920s, the town grew a lot. This happened after oil was discovered nearby. A special factory called a refinery was built in 1922. It processed the oil found in the Kevin Sunburst Oil Field.
After the 1970s, oil work in the area stopped. Sunburst then went back to being mostly a farming town. The local high school honors this oil history. Their sports teams are called the Sunburst Refiners. The town's name comes from the beautiful sunrises. The sun appears over the Sweetgrass Hills and lights up the fields. Sunburst officially became a town in 1924.
