Sune börjar tvåan (which means Sune starts the second grade in Swedish) is a fun chapter book. It was written by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson. The book first came out in 1985. It tells the story of Sune Andersson. The book follows Sune during his second year of school in Sweden.

This book has even been used in higher education. It helps people study how boys and girls are shown in different stories at school.

What Happens in the Book?

Sune is now eight years old. He is ready to begin the second grade at school. A new girl named Maria Perez joins his class. Sune quickly develops a crush on her. The only problem is that he still likes Sophie, too!

Sune also gets a visit from his cousin, Algot. He meets a boy named Affe. Affe tries to get Sune to join a "gang of girl haters." But Sune does not want to be part of that group.

The Andersson family is also getting bigger. Sune's mom has a secret! At school, the kids put on a play. Sune gets the role of Little Red Riding Hood. Later, Sune ends up in the hospital. He needs surgery to remove his appendix.

Sune even tries to run away from home for a bit.

Audio Versions

Audio versions of the book were released in the 1980s. In 1986, SR Örebro released recordings on cassette tape. These were called "Sune börjar tvåan."

Later, in 1988, the EMI music label released more tapes. These were titled "Sune och Maria Perez" and "Sune och tjejhatarligan." These tapes included many of the stories from the book.
