Suntex is a small, unnamed place in Harney County, Oregon. It is not an official town or city. It is located in the valley of Silver Creek. This area is west of Burns and north of U.S. Route 20.
Suntex got its start when a post office was opened there in 1916. The post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open until 1949. After that, mail for Suntex was sent through the post office in Riley. W. F. Sturges, who was the first postmaster, said he didn't know why the name "Suntex" was chosen. It didn't have any special meaning to the local area. Today, you can still find a few buildings in Suntex.
