SUPINFO International University is a private school that teaches about computers and technology. It used to be called "École supérieure d'Informatique". This school started in 1965 and has been officially recognized by the French government since 1972.

SUPINFO helps students become experts in computer and tech jobs over five years. After they finish their courses, they get a special diploma. This diploma is recognized by the French government as a high-level professional certificate.

What is SUPINFO?

SUPINFO trains students to work in many different areas of computer science. This includes things like programming, network security, and managing computer systems. The school aims to give students all the skills they need for a successful career in technology.

How SUPINFO Started

The school, originally called ESI, was founded in 1965 by Léo Rozentalis. Later, in 1998, a former student named Alick Mouriesse bought the school.

SUPINFO started to grow internationally in 2002. They made agreements with three universities in China to open SUPINFO schools there. Students in China learned mostly in English but also studied French. They received the same diploma as students in Paris.

The school continued to open new locations. In 2004, two new sites opened in Strasbourg and Saint-Benoît, Réunion. Many more campuses opened across France in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. SUPINFO also opened schools in other countries. These included London (UK), Montreal (Canada), Casablanca (Morocco), and San Francisco (USA). More international sites opened in 2009 in Brussels (Belgium), Catania (Italy), and Rabat (Morocco).

In August 2020, the school faced some financial difficulties. It was then bought by the IONIS Education Group. Today, SUPINFO has five main campuses that are still open. These are located in Paris, Lille, Lyon, Tours, and Caen.

What Students Learn

SUPINFO offers a broad computer science program. All five campuses teach the same courses. This means students can move between different campuses if they want to. They can even attend classes at a different campus during the school year.

The study program is similar to engineering schools in Europe. It includes three years of basic studies, followed by two years of advanced studies. Students also complete internships at companies. These internships help them get real-world experience. Some students can even choose to work part-time while studying.

To join SUPINFO, students usually need to have completed a French Baccalaureat S, STI, or STL. They can also apply if they have already studied computer science for one, two, or three years after high school.

Certificates and Diplomas

When students complete their training, they receive a diploma. This diploma is officially recognized by a national commission in France. It shows that they have achieved a high level of professional skill.

Besides the main diploma, SUPINFO students can also earn special certificates. These come from big technology companies like Microsoft, Oracle Corporation, Cisco, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Mandriva, Novell, and Apple Inc.. The costs for some of these certificates, like Microsoft, Cisco, Mandriva, and Novell, are included in the school fees. This helps students get extra qualifications for their future jobs.

Famous Graduates

SUPINFO has had many successful graduates. One well-known alumnus is:

  • Tristan Nitot (who graduated in 1989). He was one of the people who started Mozilla Europe.
