The Sweitzer Hills are a small group of low hills, sometimes called a short mountain range. They are found in the beautiful Capay Valley in northern Yolo County, California.

These hills are part of a bigger system called the Inner Northern California Coast Ranges. Think of them as a smaller piece of a much larger chain of hills and mountains that run along the coast of California.

Sweitzer Hills: A Small California Range

The Sweitzer Hills are not very tall. Their highest point reaches about 180 meters (which is about 590 feet) above sea level. To give you an idea, that's roughly the height of a 60-story building! Because they are not super tall, they are often called "hills" rather than "mountains."

Where Are the Sweitzer Hills Located?

You can find the Sweitzer Hills in the northern part of Yolo County, California. They are right in the middle of the Capay Valley. This valley is known for its farms and orchards, where lots of fruits and nuts are grown. The hills add to the natural beauty of the area.

What is a Mountain Range?

A mountain range is a group or chain of mountains that are connected. They are usually formed by the same geological processes. The Sweitzer Hills are a small example of this, being a short chain of hills within the larger California Coast Ranges system. This system includes many different hills and mountains that stretch along the Pacific coast.
