Sylvia's Restaurant of Harlem, often called Sylvia's Soul Food, is a very famous soul food restaurant. It is located in Harlem, a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City. The restaurant is at 328 Malcolm X Boulevard. It was started in 1962 by Sylvia Woods.
Sylvia's has grown a lot since it first opened. It now takes up a much larger space. The restaurant also sells its own line of foods and cookbooks. Sylvia Woods even wrote a children's book. She borrowed money from her mother to open the first small restaurant. Her mother had to mortgage her farm to help. Sylvia paid back the loan just one year later.

The restaurant has always stayed in the Woods family. As of 2021, Sylvia's son, Kenneth Woods, owns it. Sylvia's grandson, K. De’Sean Woods, is the CEO and manages the restaurant.

Helping the Community
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sylvia's Restaurant helped with relief efforts. They donated fifty meals to Harlem Hospital. The restaurant also planned to open a special pantry. This pantry would offer meal kits to help people in the community.
