History
Sylvia started out with a different name! It was first called Zenith when it was founded in 1874. Later, in 1886, its name was changed to Sylvia. Some people think it was named after the wife or daughter of someone who worked for the railroad.
Did you know Sylvia has a famous sports story? In 1927, the local high school football team played a game against a team from Haven. The final score was 256 to 0, which set some state records for high school football!
Geography
