Tirlok Nath Chaturvedi (born January 12, 1928 – died January 5, 2020) was an important Indian government official. He was part of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) starting in 1950. The IAS is a group of top civil servants who help run the country. Mr. Chaturvedi held many key jobs in both the state government of Rajasthan and the national government of India.
He served as the Collector of Ajmer, which is like a district manager. He was also the Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh and the Chief Secretary of Delhi Administration. These roles meant he was in charge of managing important cities and regions. He also worked as the Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Culture, helping to shape education policies. Later, he became the Home Secretary for the Government of India, a very important job dealing with national security and internal affairs. From 2002 to 2007, he served as the 14th Governor of Karnataka.

Early Career and Key Roles
After retiring from the Indian Administrative Service, Mr. Chaturvedi took on another very important role. From 1984 to 1989, he was the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. This job involves checking how the government spends money to make sure everything is done correctly and honestly.
Awards and Recognition
In 1991, Tirlok Nath Chaturvedi received the Padma Vibhushan. This is the second-highest civilian award in India, given to people for exceptional and distinguished service to the nation. It shows how much his work was valued.
Governor of Karnataka and Kerala
Mr. Chaturvedi became the Governor of Karnataka on August 21, 2002. A Governor is like the head of a state, representing the President of India. They make sure the state government follows the rules and laws.
Serving Two States
For a short time, from February to June 2004, he also served as the Governor of Kerala. He took on this extra responsibility after the previous Governor, Sikander Bakht, passed away. He was widely praised for his work as the Governor of Karnataka. He finished his term as Governor of Karnataka on August 20, 2007, and was succeeded by Rameshwar Thakur.
